About

biography Martina Escudero-Wolf

I was born and raised in Stuttgart, Germany, and went to University in France, Spain, and Germany. Although my professional background is public relations and event management, the arts, especially photography, always played a major role in my life.

Looking for new challenges to express my artistic interest, I took various art classes in different styles and techniques. My media of choice are acrylics and collages, and most recently, mosaics. Still addicted to photography, I find inspiration for my art work traveling in Canada and Europe.

I am a proud member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council, the PEC Studio Tour as well as the Quinte Arts Council and have successfully participated in numerous (juried) art shows.

I also take photography for company websites (i.e. www.mindfulmovements.ca), and promotional materials, as well as people shoots upon request.

Commission work welcome.

artist’s statement

There are many ways to look at life. To me, colour is life. The paintings I create come from my heart. They are spontaneous, they just happen.

I mainly work with acrylics, and usually end up adding collage elements to my work. More recently I started working with mosaics: an exciting new way to experiment with shapes and different materials/textures.

My inspiration are nature, shapes and colours. I am intrigued by the simplicity of things and mesmerized by the interaction of bright and friendly colours found in nature, which I try to integrate into my art work.

My ultimate goal is to convey a positive message and to provide an oasis of peace of mind with my paintings – I want people to smile when they look at my art.

And… for the record…

Martina (chairwoman and creative brain of the 2010 Belleville Festival of Trees – the major fundraiser for the Quinte Arts Council) dances along with Mr. Grinch at the sold out Grand Gala “Whoville” on November 20, 2010. Over $80,000 was raised during the Festival.
