biography Martina Escudero-Wolf

Martina was born and raised in Stuttgart, Germany. She went to University in France, Spain and Germany, and has lived and worked in Canada for many years prior to moving to Atlanta, Georgia. Although her professional background is public relations and event management, the arts, especially photography, always played a major role in her life.

Looking for new challenges to express her artistic interest, Martina took various painting classes in different styles and techniques. Her media of choice are acrylics and collages, and most recently, mosaics. Still addicted to photography, Martina finds inspiration for her art work traveling in North America and Europe.

Martina is a member of the Prince Edward County Arts Council and the Prince Edward County Studio Tour (Canada) and has successfully participated in numerous (juried) art shows.

In 2011, Martina won the Juror’s Award for her work submitted to the “2011 Art in the County” in Prince Edward County, Canada.

She has sold numerous of her paintings, commission pieces and photography. Her work is part of private collections in the US, Canada, Germany, the UK, France and Spain.

Martina also takes photography for promotional materials and company websites (check out www.mindfulmovements.ca), as well as people shoots upon request.

Commission work welcome.

artist’s statement

There are many ways to look at life. To me, colour is life. The paintings I create come from my heart. They are spontaneous, they just happen.

I mainly work with acrylics, and usually end up adding collage elements to my work.

My inspiration are nature, shapes and colours. I am intrigued by the simplicity of things and mesmerized by the interaction of bright and friendly colours found in nature, which I try to integrate into my art work.

My ultimate goal is to convey a positive message and to provide an oasis of peace of mind with my paintings – I want people to smile when they look at my art.

And… for the record…

Martina (chairwoman and creative brain of the 2010 Belleville Festival of Trees – the major fundraiser for the Quinte Arts Council) dances along with Mr. Grinch at the sold out Grand Gala “Whoville” on November 20, 2010. Over $80,000 was raised during the Festival.
